Particle Image Velocimetry

Particle Image velocimetry (PIV) is an optical method used to measure velocities and related properties in fluids.

The technique is instant and non-intrusive using a laser for measurement of flow and turbulence.  Fluid is seeded with particles which follow the flow dynamics. Motion of these seeding particles is used to calculate velocity, measure impeller flow, velocity profile, and energy dissipation in mixing vesselsPIV allows real-time velocity mapping.

With PIV, our engineers can develop, measure, and optimize impeller design for your specific applications.

PIV data is used in conjunction with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology to ensure the most accurate procedural results.
